It aims at the prevention of one of the main problems related to dental implants: bacterial proliferation inside the implants, which is widely recognized as one of the most insidious causes of peri-implantitis.

SilverPlug® is a Class IIA medical device made of a polymer containing SILVER ZEOLITE, a natural antibacterial. It does not release any silver in the body.

After sealing the tunnel with SilverPlug, the access hole can be plugged with any type of composite. Similarly, the crown can be cemented with any temporary or definitive cement.
Clean the implant platform and remove the biofilm with a cylindrical brush.
Disinfect the area using an appropriate product and subsequently rinse with sterile saline.
In the meantime, the abutment must be cleaned, brushed and immersed in an appropriate disinfectant solution for a few minutes.
Rinse the abutment thoroughly with sterile saline.
The shape of SilverPlug® is tronco-conical, in order to enable the correct fitting in all abutment access canal diameters.
To shape the SilverPlug® to the correct dimensions, verify the depth of the abutment access canal with a graduated periodontal probe and assess its maximum diameter.
Cut the correct section of a SilverPlug®, in order for it to fill the access canal and to be totally adherent to the side wall of the tunnel in its larger section.
Fit the implant prosthesis and torque appropriately the prosthetic screw.
Pin the prepared SilverPlug® with a probe and easily insert it into the access canal, with the help of a plugger.

Be sure that the SilverPlug® is completely sealing the abutment access canal.
If the inserted SilverPlug® is too long, it is possible to trim it with a polishing bur.
When using a screw retained crown, remember to leave the right amount of space for the final layer of composite.
Seal the access hole with composite or fit the cemented crown, following the usual procedures.
